  • State Could Put L.A. Coliseum Up For Sale

California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger today is introducing a revised budget in Sacramento that proposes the state sell several properties, including the L.A. Coliseum and the Del Mar Fairgrounds, to provide some much needed financial relief. One potential buyer for the Coliseum could be its current main tenant, the Univ. of Southern Cal. The school prior to signing a long-term lease last year offered to run the stadium and invest as much as $100M in renovations. Meanwhile, the Cal Expo is also included in the budget proposal, and that could complicate things even further in the Kings’ ongoing quest for a new arena. The Cal Expo site is under consideration to be redeveloped with a new NBA facility, but that plan has California maintaining ownership of the land.
