If Grizzlies Land No. 1 Pick In Draft, Some Fans Will Pay $1 Per Game For 41 Home Games

The Grizzlies Thursday announced a "Pick N' Pay" sales drive, "tying season-ticket prices to the team's lottery position" for the NBA Draft on June 25, according to Ronald Tillery of the Memphis COMMERCIAL APPEAL. If the Grizzlies "land the No. 1 pick, fans taking advantage of the promotion will pay just $1 per game for 41 regular-season home games and four preseason games." A second-place finish in the lottery "would mean fans pay just $2 per game or $90 for the season-ticket package." The Grizzlies "own the sixth-best chance at winning the lottery." A $45 deposit "would guarantee a season ticket for $270 or $6 per game should" the team secure the sixth pick (Memphis COMMERCIAL APPEAL, 5/8).

THAT'S THE TICKET: In Milwaukee, Don Walker reported the Brewers Thursday announced a new promotion that "gives fans a break on the ticket price for a June series" against the Rockies. Through the rest of May, "every Brewers victory will result in a $1 off a Loge Outfield ticket." The discount "will apply to any game of the series against the Rockies" from June 9-11. The regular ticket prices of a Loge Outfield seat is $28, so "four wins the rest of the month means $4 off the price of the ticket" (JSONLINE.com, 5/7).

DEAL BREAKER: The JOURNAL SENTINEL's Walker wrote MLB Commissioner Bud Selig's Fan Initiative is a "laudable plan." But "one of the first offers [MLB] has put on the table isn't exactly a great deal," as fans who buy a Majestic Athletic Replica jersey "get two free tickets to a game this season."
