  • Ramirez' Suspension Gets Front-Page Headlines

Manny Ramirez’ 50-game suspension is renewing the debate as to whether MLB’s drug-testing program is adequately working. Supporters claim that Ramirez’ ban shows the league is serious about catching players using illegal substances, no matter their star quality. However, others are noting that Manny is just the latest in a line of future HOFers to give the sport a black eye and are increasingly suspect of anyone that is a part of this generation. Meanwhile, the Dodgers waste no time reacting to the loss of the face of the franchise, dropping its popular “Mannywood” promo and offering refunds to fans who bought seats in the section. But it may be harder for the club to rebound from a PR standpoint, as the L.A. DAILY NEWS’ Jill Painter writes the Dodgers “would have been better off” not re-signing Manny.
