Ladies Love Cool James: Nike Makes T-Shirt For LeBron Fan Club
Published May 7, 2009
Nike has "designed a special T-shirt" for the Akron-based LeBron James Grandmothers Fan Club, according to Jewell Cardwell of the AKRON BEACON JOURNAL. Nike Senior Merchandise Manager of Basketball Apparel Lee Walter said the company is printing 200 shirts for the fan club, and "shipping the tees so that they arrive by Mother's Day." The wine-colored shirts "feature a gold silhouette of James on the front with the words 'The LeBron James Grandmothers Fan Club' and the Nike logo." The back of the shirt features the word "Witness" and a poem written by fan-club member Ruth Wine, while the moniker "LBJ" is emblazoned on one of the sleeves (AKRON BEACON JOURNAL, 5/7).
PLAYOFF PUSH: Sales of merchandise at NBAStore.com and the NBA store in N.Y. during the first round of this year's Playoffs are up 5% from last year, led by team sales for the Cavaliers. Also, sales of the league's official MVP T-Shirt for James, through two days, are the highest of any MVP in NBA history (THE DAILY).
