Patrick's Car For May 24 Indy 500 Will Have A New Orange And Black Paint Job

IndyCar driver Danica Patrick "will be sponsored for the rest of the season by Boost Mobile, a division of Sprint," according to Curt Cavin of the INDIANAPOLIS STAR. Boost's cellular service plans are sold through Motorola, which is in its third season of supporting Patrick and Andretti Green Racing (AGR). Cavin also noted Patrick's car will have a new "orange and black paint job" for the Indianapolis 500 on May 24 (INDIANAPOLIS STAR, 5/2). Patrick said Motorola has "always been looking for a partner that would be part of an Indy car and when Boost Mobile came along it was perfect because they represent what I'm all about -- being young, fun and edgy. It was a perfect little partnership." More Patrick: "We're going to do some fun stuff with the commercials and doing viral things to push Boost, Motorola and the Clutch phone" (CNBC.com, 5/1). BLEACHER REPORT's Richard Deveau reported if Patrick wins the Indy 500, 500 Motorola Clutch i465 handsets "will be given away with $300 of Boost Mobile service." The company also is celebrating the new partnership by announcing the "Pop Your Clutch" sweepstakes. Fans can "enter to win the grand prize of a free trip" to the August 23 Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma (BLEACHERREPORT.com, 5/2).

STAY OR LEAVE? Patrick's current contract with AGR expires at the end of the season, and AGR Chair Michael Andretti said that he has "discussed a contract extension with Danica, but no deal is in place." Andretti said that he "would like to get a deal done as soon as possible" (MYSTATELINE.com, 5/1). The INDIANAPOLIS STAR's Cavin wrote "it's a mistake" if Patrick goes to NASCAR, as her "chance at success is in the IndyCar Series, where her lifestyle can remain fairly normal to boot" (INDYSTAR.com, 5/2).
