FUN RUN: UniversalSports.com posted site traffic records on Monday in conjunction with the running of the Boston Marathon, drawing 1.77 million page views and more than 600,000 total multimedia streams. Average viewing time for a video stream was more than 20 minutes. The site covered the marathon live, and will do the same for other major marathons, including ones upcoming in London, Chicago and N.Y. (Eric Fisher, SportsBusiness Journal).
CLOSER TO THE CITY: DCRTV.com’s Dave Hughes cited sources as indicating that Redskins Owner Daniel Snyder “wants to move” his two Red Zebra FM affiliates of ESPN Radio 980 “closer to DC.” The sources said that Snyder has “submitted requests with the FCC to move the city of license” for WWXT-FM from Prince Frederick, Maryland; to Dunkirk, Maryland; and the city of license for WWXX-FM from Warrenton, Virginia; to Buckland, Virginia (DCRTV.com, 4/20).
NBA PLAYOFF RATINGS NOTES: Monday’s Mavericks-Spurs game earned a 6.9 rating on KTXA-Ind and a 4.8 rating on TNT in Dallas. The game earned a 7.1 rating on FS Southwest and an 11.8 rating on TNT in San Antonio (DALLASNEWS.com, 4/21)….TNT’s telecast of Sunday’s 76ers-Magic game earned a 1.8 cable rating, a 38% improvement over the comparable Raptors-Magic game last season (ORLANDOSENTINEL.com, 4/21).
