FAST STARTERS: NESN received a 9.4 local rating in the Boston market for Thursday's Canadiens-Bruins Eastern Conference Quarterfinal Game One, the best rating in the network’s 25-year history for the opening game of a playoff series. It marks the third-highest Bruins rating in NESN history (NESN)....FS Midwest earned a 7.6 local rating in St. Louis for Wednesday's Blues-Canucks Western Conference Quarterfinals Game One, marking the RSN's highest-rated Blues game since it drew a 9.8 for the Blues' Western Conference Semifinals series-clinching Game Four win against the Stars in '01 (FS Midwest)....CSN Mid-Atlantic earned a 3.3 local rating (76,000 HHs) for Wednesday's Rangers-Capitals Eastern Conference Quarterfinals Game One, which topped all other national sports nets and local RSNs, including ESPN and MASN, in the DC market for the evening (CSN Mid-Atlantic).
ANGEL EYES: In Toronto, Chris Zelkovich noted The Masters this year "managed something that few sports events in this country can do: beat out 'Hockey Night In Canada.'" Global TV's telecast of Sunday's final round attracted an average audience of 1.039 million viewers, 12,000 more than the CBC drew for its early-window "HNIC" coverage of Senators-Maple Leafs and Penguins-Canadiens Saturday (THESTAR.com, 4/14).
NOTES: FSN Northwest earned an 11.0 local rating for Wednesday's Angels-Mariners game, which marked the highest rating for a Mariners game since '07. The telecast "jumped to a 13.1 peak rating during the final innings" (SEATTLEPI.com, 4/16)....ITV1's telecast of Tuesday's second leg of the Liverpool-Chelsea UEFA Champions League match averaged 8.2 million viewers. The telecast peaked with 9.5 millions viewers from 9:15-9:30pm local time as Liverpool "staged an unlikely comeback" during the second half (Manchester GUARDIAN, 4/15).
