The Love Doctor: T'Wolves Rookie Discusses Team's Unique Promo
Published April 10, 2009
T'Wolves F Kevin Love appeared on ESPN2’s “First Take” Friday morning to discuss the team’s campaign promoting him for the NBA Rookie of the Year Award. The “Mr. Love” campaign features Love's image on a bottle of "Mr. Love Miracle Glass Cleaner." Love also filmed an infomercial for a glass-cleaner kit, which was sent to more than 120 media members who vote on the award. ESPN’s Dana Jacobsen said, “Billy Mays, watch out! … Love’s new infomercial is likely to either get him a new second career or the desired result.” Love said the T’Wolves PR department “did a great job getting that video together, but I’m not so sure you’re going to see me on the big-screen anytime soon.” Love said the video and campaign “gets everybody involved. It’s getting everybody to look at the season that I’ve had.” Love: “We thought we’d throw out something pretty funny and we went with the Billy Mays infomercial. … It was very corny, but it was very well received by my teammates and around the league so far” (“ESPN First Take,” ESPN2, 4/10).
