Golf Channel Will Feature Twitter Updates During The Masters

In L.A., Diane Pucin noted both ESPN and Golf Channel yesterday afternoon offered "plenty of pre-Masters coverage." Pucin: "But I've found myself flipping less and sticking with the Golf Channel just because they're showing live press conferences -- without commentary. ... Not that ESPN's commentary and graphics and look-backs are bad, but on this day it's just kind of fun to listen to the golfers" (LATIMES.com, 4/8). Meanwhile, Golf Channel during The Masters will feature Twitter updates from members of the network's "Live From The Masters" team at www.Twitter.com/GolfChannelnews (THE DAILY). The WALL STREET JOURNAL's John Paul Newport wrote The Masters is "surprisingly techno-hip ... for a tournament run by white-haired men in green jackets." The Masters.org Web site "rivals the PGA Tour's for basic usefulness -- you can customize the leaderboard and easily look up players' past performances -- and has added some cool new features this year." One is a "way to monitor several video feeds simultaneously" (WSJ.com, 4/8).

FLYING HIGH: In Philadelphia, Sam Carchidi reported HBO is "planning a documentary" on the Flyers' Broad Street Bullies teams that won the Stanley Cup in '74 and '75. Filming will begin next week and will include interviews with Comcast-Spectacor Chair Ed Snider, who founded the team in '66. HBO also plans to interview Comcast-Spectacor President & COO Peter Luukko (PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER, 4/8).
