Subway Signs WR Michael Crabtree To Deal Ahead Of NFL Draft
Published April 7, 2009
Subway has signed former Texas Tech WR and NFL Draft prospect Michael Crabtree to his first national endorsement deal. The deal includes personal appearances and behind-the-scenes Webisodes to debut on SubwayFreshBuzz.com the week of the '09 NFL Draft (Subway). In this week's SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, Terry Lefton notes the deal marks the "fourth consecutive year that Subway, which is not an NFL corporate partner, has leaned on the draft for some brand buzz." Subway CMO Tony Pace: "This allows our brand to get those fans behind the curtain a little and connect." Pace said that the QSR selected Crabtree because of "skill level and his location in Texas." Pace indicated that "no plans have been made for a TV spot with Crabtree -- at least not yet." Subway for the past three drafts has signed deals with Saints RB Reggie Bush, Browns QB Brady Quinn and Rams DE Chris Long (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 4/6 issue).
