Cowboys, Rangers Agree To Share Parking Spaces For '09 Seasons

Cowboys, Rangers Each Control About 12,000 Parking Spots Surrounding Facilities

The Cowboys and MLB Rangers have "reached a deal to share parking spaces" for their facilities in Arlington, according to Gordon Dickson of the FT. WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM. The agreement "ensures that there will be room for most ticket holders at the new 80,000-seat Cowboys stadium in Arlington to park within about a mile." It also means the two teams "must work together closely each year on scheduling," as the NFL and MLB seasons overlap between August and October. Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones: "We'll work within our dates to ensure we don't have games going on in the same time period." Dickson notes the Cowboys and Rangers "each control about 12,000 parking spots." Rangers Exec VP/Ballpark Operations Rob Matwick said that the Rangers "will keep almost 100[%] of the game-day parking revenue generated by football traffic on their lots." The "only exception is a small number of spots that may be presold by Cowboys ticket representatives, who would then get a small percentage of the sale as a commission." Matwick "declined to disclose how much Cowboys fans will be charged for parking in Rangers lots," but for MLB games, the regular price is $12 per car (FT. WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM, 4/3).

BARGAIN HUNTERS: In Ft. Worth, Andrea Ahles reports the Rangers Thursday "unveiled ticket and parking discounts for Friday nights, along with several food packages that fans can buy" at the ballpark. On all 12 "FANtastic Fireworks Fridays" at the ballpark, tickets "regularly priced up to $25 can be bought for $10," and cash parking "will be $5 instead of the usual $12." Also for those games, "all-you-can-eat admission usually priced $31 will cost $25." Also, the team is "offering several 'value meals,'" where fans can buy a "hot dog, soda and chips for $5.75, which is $3.75 cheaper than if the items were bought individually." Two concession stands "will offer items at a discount, like popcorn for $2 and hot dogs for $2.75," while 16-ounce beers "are $5 at all concession stands this year" (FT. WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM, 4/3).
