Wie Set To Work With Team Of IMG Agents Led By Clarke Jones

IMG today formally announced that it has signed MICHELLE WIE for representation. She will work with a team of agents led by CLARKE JONES, who also represents golfers VIJAY SINGH and CAMILO VILLEGAS. Wie recently parted ways with William Morris Agency, which had repped her since she turned pro more than three years ago (THE DAILY). In a special to GOLF.com, NBC golf analyst Dottie Pepper wrote it "really doesn't matter who represents" Wie, because her parents, B.J. and BO, are "still making the decisions." Pepper noted Wie's three former agents at William Morris Agency -- ROSS BERLIN, GREG NARED, and JILL SMOLLER -- "each cared for Michelle as a person, and they were realistic and honest in their assessments of Michelle's career." The agents "often disagreed" with Wie's parents, and Pepper wrote, "I suspect that's why they lost Michelle as a client" (GOLF.com, 3/17).
