Utilities Exec Among NFLPA Candidates, Interviewed Next Week
Published January 12, 2009
The NFLPA Exec Committee next week in Dallas is "expected to interview several candidates" for the vacant Exec Dir position, and sources indicated that among the candidates is Entergy New Orleans Inc. President & CEO Roderick West, according to Liz Mullen of SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL. The committee is expected to "narrow the field of prospects to three or four" after the interviews, and those "making the final cut will go to the NFLPA's annual meeting in Maui in March," where the 32 NFL player reps will vote to fill the position. While it is unclear how many candidates will be interviewed, sources said that the number is about eight. Candidates reported to be among those in consideration for the NFLPA's top job include former NFLPA Presidents Trace Armstrong, Mike Kenn and Troy Vincent, lawyer David Cornwell and former NFLers John Spagnola and Jim Covert. West's name has "not surfaced in the press before." West did not return a call for this report (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 1/12 issue).
