Fox Ad Inventory Sold For Tonight's BCS Championship Game
Published January 8, 2009
Fox sold out of ad inventory for the Oklahoma-Florida BCS Championship well before tonight's game. The network said it benefited from its strategy of signing advertisers to four-year deals, which were signed when it first picked up the BCS games in '06. The BCS Championship Game has been 75% sold through those four-year contracts, signed by about 12 advertisers. Fox said sales picked up once the Florida-Oklahoma matchup was determined. Tonight, Ford will sponsor the pre-game show, and Southwest Airlines will sponsor the halftime and post-game shows.
RATINGS POLL RESULTS: THE DAILY asked its readers for their opinion on what the final Nielsen rating would be for tonight’s Florida-Oklahoma BCS Championship game. More than a quarter of the 261 responses feel the rating will fall in the 15.6-17.0 range. For comparison, last year's LSU-Ohio State title game earned a 14.4 rating. The Gators' win in the '07 National Championship game earned a 17.4, while Oklahoma's loss to USC in the '05 Orange Bowl, the last time the Sooners played for the national title, earned a 13.7 on ABC. Results from the poll can be found below:
