Brewers Postpone Plans For New Scoreboard At Miller Park

The Brewers have "decided to hold off on installing a new scoreboard and sound system at Miller Park for the 2010 season," according to Don Walker of the MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL. Brewers Exec VP/Business Operations Rick Schlesinger said that the "recession and significant investments in other areas of the ballpark compelled the franchise to hold off" on the plan, which has been "pushed back until 2011." Schlesinger: "It could even be 2012." New scoreboards with HD "capabilities can run anywhere from" $9-12M. The Brewers had "planned to pay for most of the project, but also planned to tap into at least" $5.25M that is in the Miller Park stadium district's segregated reserve fund. Schlesinger said that "by waiting, the pricing of a new scoreboard should be more manageable." The Brewers also "will be able to take advantage of new technology" (JSONLINE.com, 1/7).
