NFL Regular-Season Attendance Slightly Off From Record-Setting '07
Published December 30, 2008
The NFL drew 17.5 million fans this season, off from the record-setting 17.6 million a year ago. On average, NFL teams had 68,241 fans per home game, even with last year. The Redskins once again led all teams in average attendance with 88,604 fans per game at FedEx Field. In their first season in Lucas Oil Field, the Colts raised their average home attendance 15.8%, packing the new venue to 106.4% capacity. The winless Lions saw the biggest average attendance drop among all NFL franchises, down 11.1% at Ford Field. Despite making surprising runs to the playoffs, the Dolphins saw a 9.3% drop in average attendance at Dolphin Stadium, while the Falcons also were off 6.3% at the Georgia Dome. The chart below lists team-by-team attendance for the '08 NFL regular season, with comparisons to '07 (THE DAILY).
