Dream A Little Dream: Fanhouse To Have Sports E-Commerce Area
Published December 11, 2008
AOL Sports has struck a deal with Florida-based sports apparel and memorabilia retailer Dreams Inc. to create a sports-specific e-commerce area within Fanhouse.com. The site, shop.fanhouse.com, builds upon prior, more general shopping areas within the AOL portal, and will carry licensed merchandise from numerous leading properties, including the big four stick-and-ball leagues, NASCAR, and the NCAA. Also planned as part of the venture are live autograph signings with athletes shown via online video. “As we expand our community features and options for our consumers, we thought it appropriate for the sports consumer that we provide a best-of-class merchandising solution to meet their needs,” said AOL Sports GM Derrick Heggans. “We will continue to incorporate solutions endemic to our space that we felt meets the needs of our audience."
