Fox To Drop MLB Pregame Show Next Year In Cost-Saving Measure
Published December 10, 2008
A Fox source yesterday confirmed that the net will drop its MLB pregame show in '09 “as part of a network-wide cost-cutting move,” according to Tom Hoffarth of the L.A. DAILY NEWS. The cut could be a result of the net losing up to $50M on its MLB coverage in ’07 and “that the pregame show hosted by Jeanne Zelasko and including Kevin Kennedy, Eric Karros and Mark Grace never made money with ad sales.” Zelasko and Kennedy will be "without Fox MLB gigs for next season," while Karros and Grace will continue as regional analysts (INSIDESOCAL.com, 12/9). Fox Sports VP/Communications Dan Bell: "In this economic climate, like most businesses, we're being forced to review options for reducing costs. But final plans aren't set" (USA TODAY, 12/10).
