Company Hopes To Make Sport-Analysis Video Available To Fans

California-based Match Analysis, which "edits video of soccer matches and catalogs every shot, pass and miscue" as part of its contracts with all MLS teams, is "in talks with broadcasters in the United States and Europe to make video analysis available online to fans," according to Eric Young of the SAN FRANCISCO BUSINESS TIMES. For Match Analysis, obtaining rights to video to provide online is a "primary concern, hence the current talks with broadcasters, which have paid millions of dollars for exclusive rights to televise pro sports" (SAN FRANCISCO BUSINESS TIMES, 10/31 issue).
THREE FOR ONE: The GLOBE & MAIL's Joanna Pachner reported the Indian Premier League cricket league (IPL) and Vancouver-based Web site developer Live Current Media, owner of cricket.com, reached a deal providing Live Current with Web rights to the IPL. As part of the deal, features developed by Live Current for the IPL's new Web site, IPLT20.com, and the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) new Web site, BCCI.com, "would seed content on Live Current's cricket.com portal, while that global gateway would in turn drive visitors to the two new proprietary sites." The deal will provide BCCI and the IPL with C$5M in revenue each year from Live Current, "whether or not there was any revenue," with the next C$5M of revenue going to Live Current. Anything "above that would be split equally," and any proceeds from cricket.com are "entirely Live Current's to keep" (GLOBE & MAIL, 11/4).
