Ratner Reportedly Met With Group of Investors About Nets Sale
Published October 28, 2008
Nets Owner Bruce Ratner "met with a group of investors within the past year about possibly selling control of the basketball operations" of the franchise, according to Isola & Lawrence of the N.Y. DAILY NEWS. However, one of the investors said that the deal is "no longer on the table." The investor said Ratner "was looking for equity. But now is not the time to sell a sports team, as the Cubs found out. Now, people are holding onto their cash." Isola & Lawrence note any deal "would not have included" the $4B Atlantic Yards project, which includes the team's $950M Barclays Center (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 10/28).
