Blog Hound: World Series, Low Ratings The Weekend's No. 1 Topics
Published October 27, 2008
Over the weekend, the World Series was the most popular topic, with bloggers discussing the Phillies' 3-1 lead over the Rays and the relatively low TV ratings the series is receiving thus far. College football was also highly discussed, with a particular focus on the wins by top 10 teams Texas, Penn State, Georgia, Texas Tech and Florida. Former Knicks coach Isiah Thomas sparked blog discussion after reports that he was taken to the hospital for a sleeping pill overdose. Thomas later stated that it was actually his daughter that was taken to the hospital, but this was disputed by N.Y. police. The NFL was a popular topic following the Giants' close win over the Steelers, 49ers coach Mike Singletary's "intense" post-game press conference, and reports that several NFL players have tested positive for substances classified as water pills. Rounding out the top five was talk of fans in Boston being injured after the glass shattered following a hard hit during Thursday night's Maple Leafs-Bruins game.
