Jack Nicklaus Tops Golf Inc.'s Power List For Fifth Straight Year
GOLF INC. has selected Jack Nicklaus as the most powerful individual in golf for the fifth year in a row, according to their '08 "Most Powerful People in Golf" list. Individuals on the list were selected for "their ability to influence the development of courses and communities, the operation of courses, the equipment used by golfers and the rules and regulations of the game." Nicklaus tops the list again this year after opening 17 courses last year and an expected 20 in '08, with his services "in demand just as much in Dubai as in Dallas." Among those making a big jump on the list this year was Leisurecorp CEO David Spencer, who jumped eight spots due to the "increasing clout of the oil-rich Middle East emirates" (GOLF INC., 10/'08 issue).
