Blog Hound: Closely Contested World Series Opener No. 1 Topic
Published October 23, 2008
Over the past 24 hours, the Phillies' win over the Rays in last night's World Series Game One dominated blog conversation. Despite ESPN's decision to cover the story involving Jets QB Brett Favre advising the Lions for the first time yesterday, bloggers remained suspicious that ESPN purposefully avoided the story because it was first broken by Fox' Jay Glazer. Univ. of California (Cal) FB R.J. Garrett and former Cal player Gary Doxy being charged in connection with a robbery last month of two Cal crew team members also appeared in the top five, with bloggers amused because Garrett and Doxy ended up targeting and robbing the wrong people. News that Matt Williams, a Texas Tech Univ. student who won a promotional place-kicking contest during a September game, has been added to the football team and may take the field during the Texas Tech-Kansas game Saturday also sparked conversation. Rounding out the top five was news that Texas QB and Heisman contender Colt McCoy said he will return for his senior season next year.
