Apple Of Their Eyes: "MNF" Sees Ratings Jump For Giants-Browns

ESPN earned an 8.4 cable rating (11.4 million viewers) for its "MNF" coverage of Giants-Browns, up 25.4% from a 6.7 (8.5 million viewers) for the comparable Giants-Falcons game in '07. Through seven games this season, "MNF" is averaging a 9.2 cable rating with 12.5 million viewers, up 9.5% and 15.5%, respectively, from an 8.4 cable rating with 10.8 million viewers through seven games last season (THE DAILY).

NETWORK NEWS: NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” featuring Patriots-Chargers earned an 8.2 national rating (13.1 million viewers), up 15.5% from a 7.1 (11.2 million viewers) for Saints-Seahawks in Week Six last season. Through seven NFL game telecasts on NBC, the net is averaging a 10.2 rating and 16.6 million viewers, down 2.8% in ratings, but up 0.7% in viewers from a 10.4 rating and 16.5 million viewers through the first seven telecasts of ‘07 (THE DAILY).

EYE ON THE PRIZE: DAILY VARIETY's Rick Kissell reports CBS last week won the week ending October 12, leading in adults 18-49 with a 3.2/9 rating, ahead of ABC (3.0/8), and Fox and NBC (tied with 2.7/8). CBS won Saturday's primetime broadcast night on the strength of the LSU-Florida college football game. NBC was led by "Sunday Night Football," which earned a 5.2/13 and 13.05 million viewers in adults 18-49. Fox "got a huge lift" from Sunday afternoon's Cowboys-Cardinals game, which earned a 11.4/36 in adults 18-49 from 7:00-7:44pm ET (DAILY VARIETY, 10/15).
