Weiberg, Tribble Among Those On Big East Commish Search List
Published October 13, 2008
Former Big 12 Conference Commissioner Kevin Weiberg, Univ. of Central Florida AD and former Orange Bowl CEO Keith Tribble, Univ. of Texas Associate AD Christine Plonsky and CBS College Sports Network Exec VP/Content Tim Pernetti are "among the non-Big East officials being considered" to replace Mike Tranghese as Big East Conference Commissioner, according to sources cited by Tom Luicci of the Newark STAR-LEDGER. Big East Senior Associate Commissioner John Marinatto and Associate Commissioners Tom Odjakjian and Nick Carparelli Jr. are "candidates from within the conference who are being considered." The conference hopes to have Tranghese's replacement "by the end of December." Univ. of Pittsburgh Chancellor Mark Nordenberg, Georgetown Univ. President John DeGioia and Big East consultant Kevin O'Malley are heading the search process (Newark STAR-LEDGER, 10/12).
