Drop The Puck: THE DAILY Offers Its NHL Season Preview Issue
Published October 9, 2008
After dropping the puck over the weekend in Stockholm and Prague, the NHL's '08-09 season gets underway in earnest tonight with four games on the docket, and as such, THE DAILY today offers a special preview issue. The league looks to carry the momentum it gained last spring from the memorable Red Wings-Penguins Stanley Cup Finals and the continued rising national profiles of both Sidney Crosby and Alex Ovechkin. However, Commissioner Gary Bettman admits the league is not completely immune from the global financial crisis, stating the NHL “can't take any of our revenue sources for granted.” Among the other items in today’s issue: a roundtable panel that hits on some hot-button issues the league is facing, a look at some of the new creatives coming from Versus and FSN affiliates, each team’s marketing slogans for the season and a chat with NBC/CBC/NESN analyst Mike Milbury.
