Star Of Stars: Terrell Owens To Endorse Venom Energy Drink
Published September 24, 2008
Dr Pepper Snapple Group (DPSG) brand Venom Energy drink has signed a marketing partnership with Cowboys WR Terrell Owens. Owens will participate in the brand's promotional and marketing campaigns of the beverage, including attending in-store events and appearing on various merchandise materials (Venom Energy). In Ft. Worth, Clarence Hill Jr. reports DPSG through next March will donate a portion of the drink's sales to Owens' charitable foundation, Catch a Dream (FT. WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM, 9/24). In Philadelphia, Don McKee writes Owens is "finding out what it means to be a Cowboy in Dallas. It means Money, with a capital M." Since suffering an "accidental overdose" in '06, Owens has "made mostly good headlines." However, Venom still "liked the rebel attitude enough to ask him to endorse" the drink (PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER, 9/24). Meanwhile, Owens has released a new book, "T.O's Finding Fitness," which is "all about Owens' workouts, diet and lifestyle" (DALLASNEWS.com, 9/23).
RECOVERY TIME: Dodgers LF Manny Ramirez has signed to become the spokesperson for CTVX Inc's RecoveryX, a sports drink containing algae extract that claims to reduce swelling. Ramirez will appear in commercials, make personal appearances and attend other events on behalf of the company (CTVX).
