    Galaxy Is MLS' Most
    Valuable Club At $100M

    MLS for years has struggled to find its foothold in the North American sports culture, but it appears to be gaining traction, as FORBES releases its first ever franchise valuation survey. Not surprisingly, the Beckham-led Galaxy top the list with a value of $100M. While the magazine’s estimates indicate the league is “not yet profitable,” there are “signs of hope.” Another positive sign for the league: there is no shortage of big-name prospective ownership groups waiting to come on board. One of those is Eugene Melnyk, who today unveils plans for a soccer-specific stadium in Ottawa that would host a future expansion team. However, the Senators Owner faces competition from a number of different groups. Meanwhile, over in England, Dubai Int’l Capital is denying reports it is interested in buying either Newcastle or Liverpool, while ManU’s shirt sponsorship deal with AIG appears to be on solid ground despite the insurance company’s uncertain financial future.
