Ontario-based industrial-supply company Acklands-Grainger Inc. (A-G) yesterday was named as the latest sponsor of the 2010 Vancouver Games "in a group of new supporters that bring [VANOC] to $730[M] in corporate support," according to Derrick Penner of the VANCOUVER SUN. The total value of the sponsorship was not revealed, but the company "is joining as an official supplier, the category that requires a contribution of [$3-15M]." VANOC Exec VP/Revenue, Marketing & Communications Dave Cobb said that there are "several other new sponsors waiting in the wings to be announced, all of them in the official-supplier category, which will bring its sponsorships to $730[M] of the $760[M] it hopes to raise from corporate backers." A-G will be the official safety equipment supplier to VANOC, "providing equipment ranging from hard hats to safety vests, emergency blankets and traffic cones," along with "welding equipment, industrial shelving and other warehouse tools." The deal will give A-G "marketing rights to use VANOC's Olympic marks in its marketing for the 2010 Games, and Canadian Olympic Team logos through the 2012 London Summer Games" (VANCOUVER SUN, 9/9).
