Versus Hires Neal Scarbrough As Its New VP/Digital Media
Published September 8, 2008
Versus has hired industry veteran NEAL SCARBROUGH as its VP/Digital Media. Scarbrough, who in recent years has worked for SportNet, AOL Sports and ESPN.com after a lengthy run in newspapers, will oversee the network's interactive offerings both online and on mobile platforms. He replaces BRAD FRIEDRICH, who chose not to relocate with the network from Stamford, Connecticut, to its new HQs in Philadelphia. "The big thing for us is using these mediums to capitalize on the momentum the network is gathering and create a deeper experience for the fans," Scarbrough said. "The sports we have all enjoy very passionate, intense fan bases, and the key is to foster an additional sense of community for those groups." Versus' digital offerings now include the official U.S. site for the Tour de France, the versuscountry.com portal for hunting and fishing content and an extensive battery of NHL material. Scarbrough, who will move from Connecticut to Philadelphia for the new role, was let go in June from L.A.-based SportNet, the Wasserman Media Group-owned online sports hub focusing on action, high school and Olympic sports.
