Sabres Owner Golisano Names Quinn, DiPofi Minority Owners
Published September 4, 2008
Sabres Owner Tom Golisano yesterday announced that Sabres Managing Partner Larry Quinn and COO Dan DiPofi "have been granted minority stakes in the franchise," according to Mike Harrington of the BUFFALO NEWS. It is "hard to gauge how significant an announcement this really is." On "one hand, Golisano had been the sole owner of the franchise and is now taking on partners at a time when it seems his political interests are quickly growing. On the other hand, the undisclosed stakes Quinn and DiPofi are getting are likely to be small ones, with Golisano still holding on to the vast majority of control." Quinn said that an "ownership piece had long been in the works for both him and for DiPofi and was approved by the [NHL BOG] in June as a precursor to" yesterday's announcement (BUFFALO NEWS, 9/4).
