NBC Sports Putting "SNF" Brand On 7-Eleven Products, Stores
Published September 3, 2008
NBC Sports and 7-Eleven "are teaming up on a 'Sunday Night Football' promotion that will put the network's branding in 6,000 convenience stores," according to John Ourand in this week's SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL. The "SNF" schedule will appear on 7-Eleven Super Big Gulp cups and hot dog containers, while "SNF" also "will be branded on all window banners, fountain drink dispensers and cash registers in the stores." 7-Eleven will also "make ad buys and reference 'SNF' in its local media spots," while a sweepstakes will send four 7-Eleven customers to N.Y. for a live taping of NBC's "Football Night In America" pregame show. NBC Universal Sports & Olympics VP/Strategic Marketing & Communications Mike McCarley: "We're looking for creative marketing solutions to extend our brand and drive more tune-in." Ourand notes NBC's deal "is patterned on similar deals that 7-Eleven has struck with Hollywood studios for 'The Simpsons Movie,' 'Iron Man' and 'The Incredible Hulk'" (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 9/1 issue). The promotion "will be labeled Big Match-Up Promotion" (MEDIAWEEK.com, 9/2).
START THE PRESSERS: Coors Light during the NFL season will run new versions of its press conference TV spots, featuring former NFL coaches Brian Billick, Jim Mora, Sr. and Dennis Green. The brand also is the exclusive beer sponsor of NFLatino.com, which provides NFL highlights in Spanish. Additionally, Coors Light will give away more than 200 pairs of '08 NFL regular-season tickets and 500 NFLShop.com gift certificates as part of its Silver Ticket sweepstakes (Coors Light).
