CUP OF TEE: ESPN for last Friday's coverage of the opening day of the Ryder Cup earned a 1.3 cable rating and 1,518,000 viewers, which was even with and up 3%, respectively, from USA Network's opening-day coverage of the '06 Ryder Cup (ESPN). Meanwhile, Sky Sports 1's Sunday coverage of the Ryder Cup attracted almost 1.2 million viewers. The net's coverage of the final round averaged 821,000 viewers, earning a 5.4 share of multichannel homes (Manchester GUARDIAN, 9/23).
PLAYOFF PUSH: Wednesday night's Cubs-Mets game was the highest-rated Mets game of the season on SportsNet N.Y., averaging a 5.73 HH rating and attracting more than 530,000 total viewers. The viewership peaked at 808,000 total viewers at 10:30pm ET. The game also marked the third-highest rating in SNY's history, as well as the net's second-highest rating in adults 25-54 (3.1) and men 25-54 (5.1) (SNY).
CHIEF CONCERN: KCTV-CBS for Sunday's Chiefs-Falcons game earned a 23.4 HH rating, the "lowest rating for a regular-season game" since a 20.7 for Chiefs-Jets in November '01. The net's lowest rating for the Chiefs last season was a 24.5 for Chiefs-Lions in December (K.C. STAR, 9/26).
