Thirsty Thursdays: Boston Globe Launches Weekly Sports Tabloid
Published September 25, 2008
The Boston Globe today launched its inaugural issue of a new weekly sports tabloid, "OT," that will publish every Thursday, according to Johnny Diaz of the BOSTON GLOBE. The 24-page, full-color weekly, which stands for "Our Town/Our Teams," retails for $0.50 and will feature articles by Globe sports writers including Tony Massarotti and Charlie Pierce. The publication's "goal is to provide coverage of southern Rhode Island." The publication also will include an online blog on Boston.com's sports Web site (BOSTON GLOBE, 9/25). In Boston, Mark Cofman introduces "OT" by writing, "We’re all about in-depth coverage of Boston’s marquee franchises from a stable of talented beat writers who can and will, at times, be a bit offbeat. We’re your weekly guide to the Boston professional sporting scene and beyond, with some edge, some humor and plenty of food for thought about the teams you keep so close to your heart" (BOSTON.com, 9/25).
