NBA To Stage Third China Games Event In Beijing, Guangzhou
Published August 28, 2008
The NBA again will stage the NBA China Games in October of this year. The two games in the series will feature the Warriors and Bucks playing one game each in Guangzhou and Beijing. This will mark the first sporting event at Beijing's Wukesong Indoor Stadium since the '08 Olympics and the first NBA game played in Guangzhou. Previous iterations of the NBA China Games were held in '04 and '07 (NBA). The games will air live in China and "more than 200 countries and territories" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 8/27). An NBA source said that there is a "possibility the games will be telecast live" in the U.S. on ESPN2 (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 8/28). In Milwaukee, Don Walker reported the Bucks on their trip are "expected to be accompanied by a small group of Milwaukee business leaders," including Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce President Tim Sheehy, whose group "has worked to establish cultural and business ties between" the city and China (JSONLINE.com, 8/27).
