Hornets Unveil Updated Logos, Uniforms For '08-09 Season
Published August 21, 2008
The Hornets yesterday unveiled updated logos and new uniforms designed in collaboration with the NBA and adidas. The Hornets primary logo will include the team's new colors -- blue, purple and gold -- with "NOLA" appearing across the chest (Hornets). In New Orleans, Jimmy Smith reports the "popular 'fleur-de-bee' logo, which made its first appearance as a patch on the uniform fronts last year, returns as the secondary logo and becomes what the team is calling a major element of the brand identity." The logo is "now on each side of the shorts as well as at the top of the back of the jerseys, above the player's name." The name "'New Orleans' remains emblazoned across the chest of both the home white uniforms, in Creole blue, and the road blues in Mardi Gras gold." Hornets BOD Exec Officer Chad Shinn said, "It'll always say the city across the chest, and that's something I've always been impressed with." The "home white and road blues are the only two uniforms the Hornets will wear in 2008-09." The "gold uniforms that have been worn at times the past three seasons will no longer be used" (New Orleans TIMES-PICAYUNE, 8/21).
