Expedia Activates NFL Deal With Campaign Featuring Pair Of QBs
Published August 20, 2008
Expedia.com, which last November signed a three-year deal to become the NFL's official travel sponsor, this season "will break its first multimedia effort to support the alliance," according to Barry Janoff of BRANDWEEK. The campaign, which "will include TV spots, Internet and possibly print," will feature Seahawks QB Matt Hasselbeck and Redskins QB Jason Campbell. In the TV spots, the players "will talk about how Expedia.com is the best destination to get exclusive deals on airline tickets and hotel reservations for NFL fans seeking to watch their home teams during road trips, as well as for travel accommodations" for Super Bowl XLIII and the '09 Pro Bowl. Online support "includes 32 destination guides, one for each NFL team, where Hasselbeck and Campbell offer their 'best picks' among hotels, restaurants and other venues in each city." Campbell's agent, BEST's Joel Segal, said, "Jason (just filmed) a commercial for Geico and has a Nike deal, but the Expedia (campaign) will be a big breakout for him on a national level" (BRANDWEEK.com, 8/18).
