    Nets Credit Favre Trade
    For Steady NFL Ad Sales

With the NFL Kickoff just 15 days away, two of the league's media partners held their opening press events yesterday in N.Y. CBS and ESPN both are crediting Brett Favre's move to the Jets for helping NFL ad sales remain flat with last year's record despite the sluggish current economy. Overall, sales execs from CBS, ESPN and NBC say their NFL ad sales for the upcoming season are tracking similar with ‘07, with CPM increases in the high single digits. A Fox spokesperson adds the net is "on par, perhaps a bit ahead of last year's sales pace." CBS Sports' John Bogusz notes that the market is not like last year, saying, "Overall, it's a more challenging ad marketplace." But NBC's Seth Winter, still writing Olympic business, said, "We're delighted with what we see so far." Meanwhile, look for "MNF" telecasts this season to focus on all-football-all-the-time, a marked shift from the past two years. The message: Don't expect any more booth visits from the likes of C-level celebs like Christian Slater and Carmen Electra.
