Olympic Blog Hound: Phelps' Quest, Dramatic Relay Win Tops Chart
Published August 12, 2008
Over the past 24 hours, swimming was the most popular Olympic topic, urged on by the continued success of U.S. swimmer Michael Phelps and the U.S.' victory in the 4x100m men's freestyle relay. An Olympics-related ad picturing Spain's men's basketball team pulling on the corners of their eyes was also a popular point of discussion, with many questioning the ad's appropriateness. The U.S. men's basketball team continued to be a highly discussed topic. Rounding out the top five were TV topics, including the fakery in the Opening Ceremony, and NBC's coverage of the Olympics, with discussion concerning the delaying of certain events and whether or not things were actually "live."
