Clip & Shave: Ryan Braun, Marisa Miller In New Viral Ad Campaign
Published August 11, 2008
Brewers LF Ryan Braun will appear in a viral video for Remington's new ShortCut clipper with model Marisa Miller that will "debut on YouTube in the fall," according to Don Walker of the MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL. The spot is the first video campaign for Braun, who is the official spokesperson for the product. Remington "has hopes of getting 1 million unique visitors to watch the video." It has had "success with viral video in England, but the Braun-Miller video is their first in the United States." The company was "looking for a young superstar to promote the ShortCut and gravitated toward [MLB]," and with Miller "supplying the sex appeal, Remington had plenty of star power to market its product." Remington Marketing Dir Glenn Rhodes: "They are two up-and-coming superstars and they are good for our brand." Braun said, "The more success you have gives you more opportunities off the field. I always envisioned myself doing something like this" (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 8/9).
LOOKING SHARP: In Ft. Lauderdale, Sarah Talalay reports Marlins SS Hanley Ramirez is one of 13 MLBers -- including Red Sox DH David Ortiz, Yankees Ps Mariano Rivera and Joba Chamberlain, Brewers 1B Prince Fielder and Rockies LF Matt Holliday -- endorsing Sharp. Ramirez will make "appearances and do promotions on behalf of Sharp at local retailers and events" (SUN-SENTINEL.com, 8/9).
