Olympic Blog Hound: Sunday's U.S.-China Game Leads The Way
Published August 11, 2008
Over the weekend, men's basketball was the most popular Olympic topic, highlighted by discussion of the U.S. team's 101-70 win over China yesterday. Swimming was also highly discussed, particularly the quest of U.S. swimmer Michael Phelps to win gold in all eight events in which he is competing. Friday night's Opening Ceremony broadcast was also a popular topic. A visit from President Bush sparked increased discussion of women's beach volleyball, in particular the U.S. team of Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh. The apparently random attack on Todd and Barbara Bachman, in-laws of U.S. men's volleyball coach Hugh McCutcheon, rounded out the top five with many expressing condolences for the family.
