NBC To Stream Weekly
NFL Games OnlineThe NFL and NBC make a surprising announcement today in that they will stream the net's 17 regular-season games live on NFL.com and NBCSports.com, marking the first time regular-season action will be broadly streamed in real time in the U.S. The feed will feature both the TV broadcast along with other live camera angles and a bevy of stat updates during the game. NFL Network President & CEO Steve Bornstein said, "We are taking a big leap here. We are looking at this as a learning opportunity to see what applications work online." He adds the effort is a one-year "experiment." For a league that has been so protective of its broadcast partners, the move is one sure to raise eyebrows. Already, the NFL's other media partners are unhappy, as multiple execs "wondered why NBC was the only network to benefit" from the live streaming.
