Oklahoma City NBA Team Working With NBA, Adidas On New Look
Published July 11, 2008
Professional Basketball Club Owner Clay Bennett is "working with the NBA and Adidas to come up with a new look" for the new Oklahoma City NBA team, according to Chris Colston of USA TODAY. NBA VP/Apparel, Sporting Goods & Basketball Partnerships Christopher Arena: "It's usually a 22-month process. And we're having to cram it into three or four months." Arena could "only promise the new scheme would be ready by preseason." Colston notes the only factor that "might affect the choice for Oklahoma City ... could be colleges in the marketplace," so "don't expect the team to wear crimson (Oklahoma) or a combination of black and orange (Oklahoma State)." Additionally, a "number of companies are working on a logo." NBA Marketing Communications Manager Kristin Conte: "We have hundreds of other licensees waiting to see the design to put on hats, jewelry, key chains, that kind of thing." Conte added that "T-shirts and caps with the 'OKC' logo and black-and-white combination will be available to buy next week, at local retailers," at NBAStore.com and at the NBA Store in N.Y. (USA TODAY, 7/11).
