  • Tony Stewart To Own 50% Of New Team

It's now official -- Tony Stewart next season will join the newly named Stewart Haas Racing team. Stewart will own 50% of the operation, an unprecedented opportunity that reportedly was a key factor for the driver in deciding to leave JGR. The deal also brings Stewart back into the Chevrolet fold, something Haas has been playing up with the two-time Cup champ since Gibbs last year announced the team's move to Toyota. Speculation now begins over Stewart Haas' second driver -- all signs point to fellow Hoosier State native Ryan Newman -- and potential sponsors. Some critics are calling Stewart's departure from JGR a "huge risk," as he is leaving a stable team with championship potential for an unknown future. But others commend Stewart for "securing his future beyond his years as a driver."
