  • Weaver Denies Report Jaguars Are For Sale
    On the heels of the news that the Steelers may sell shares to an outside investor, a PHILADELPHIA DAILY NEWS report cites sources as saying Wayne Weaver is negotiating a sale of the Jaguars to former Pinnacle Foods exec C. Dean Metropoulos. Weaver today forcefully declares the franchise is not for sale and he is committed to Jacksonville, but sources indicate Sal Galatioto is brokering negotiations under which Metropoulos would bring on minority partners and keep Weaver around for two years while he learns the ropes. A sale of the Jaguars may not bode well for River City, as the club has long been rumored as a candidate to relocate to L.A. Meanwhile, the Steelers' ownership saga continues to evolve, as Dan and Art Rooney II say they are lining up big name investors that will help them gain majority control of the team.
