Fans Can Access Coke Zero 400 Info On-Site Via Wireless Hotspots
Published July 2, 2008
Event information for fans at Saturday night's NASCAR Sprint Cup Coke Zero 400 will be distributed on-site via Bluetooth and wi-fi technology, thanks to a program created by Ace Marketing & Promotions, N.Y. When fans at Daytona Int'l Speedway (DIS) enter "hotspots" around the track, they'll be asked if they want to accept raceday information on their wireless device. That information could range from driver appearances to the nearest bathroom. Ace says the technology is compatible with most wireless devices. The platform also offers sponsors the opportunity to communicate directly with the fans, which Coca-Cola and Chevrolet have committed to do as part of this trial program. DIS VP/Business Development John Guthrie calls this "another level of customer service that enhances the raceday experience." Ace refers to the program as "proximity marketing."
