Neal Scarbrough Let Go From Start-Up Venture SportNet

Neal Scarbrough, hired last November as Editor-in-Chief and Senior VP of L.A.-based SportNet, has been laid off from the Wasserman Media Group-owned online sports hub focusing on action, high school and Olympic sports. Scarbrough was one of eight recently let go from the nascent venture, he said. "These are the financial realities of a start-up," said Scarbrough, who formerly worked for ESPN.com and AOL Sports. "There were a lot of issues. Technology issues, definite cash flow issues. They're looking to cut costs. But this isn't a victim story. Management was straight with me, and I'm moving forward."
