Celtics-Lakers Game Three Earns 10.8 Overnight Nielsen Rating
Published June 11, 2008
ABC last night for Celtics-Lakers Game Three earned a 10.8 overnight Nielsen rating, up 38.5% from a 7.8 for the comparable Spurs-Cavaliers Game Three in '07. The game earned a 28.6 in L.A. and a 23.3 in Boston (THE DAILY).
ONE, TWO STEP: Lakers-Celtics Game Two on ABC ranked as the most-viewed show for the week ending June 8, with 13.5 million viewers, while Game One ranked second with 13.4 million. Games Two and One also ranked as the most-viewed in the adult 18-49 demo, drawing 7.3 million and 7.1 million viewers, respectively. Meanwhile, NBC's coverage of Red Wings-Penguins Stanley Cup Finals Games Six and Five ranked eighth and tied for ninth in the demo, respectively, with 3.9 million and 3.6 million viewers (USA TODAY, 6/11). DAILY VARIETY's Rick Kissell reports ABC ranked second behind Fox for the week among adults 18-49 on the "strength of the strong NBA Finals matchup." If the Finals reaches "at least a sixth game, that would give ABC an excellent shot at snapping Fox's winning streak in the current week" (DAILY VARIETY, 6/11).
