Albuquerque, Birmingham Show Belmont Ratings Jumps From '04 Race
Published June 10, 2008
With Big Brown seeking the Triple Crown, Louisville earned an 18.3 metered market (MM) Nielsen rating for Saturday's coverage of the Belmont Stakes from 5:30-7:00pm ET, tops among the 56 MMs. The market rating, while up significantly from last year when the Triple Crown was not on the line, is down 24.7% from a 24.3 for the '04 race on NBC, which saw Smarty Jones also go for the Triple Crown. Only two markets, Albuquerque-Santa Fe and Birmingham, saw gains from that '04 race. The following lists market-by-market ratings for the Belmont Stakes on ABC this past Saturday, with comparisons to the race from '04 on NBC (THE DAILY).
