Sabres Collecting Fans' Memories For Winter Classic DVD
Published June 10, 2008
The Sabres, to commemorate the January 1 NHL Amp Energy Winter Classic played at Ralph Wilson Stadium, are "asking people who went to the game to contact the club with their personal memories and stories," with some footage being used in a DVD on the event that will be released this fall, according to James Fink of BUSINESS FIRST OF BUFFALO. The "six most compelling stories will be put on the team's Web site, sabres.com, and fans will be asked to vote for the top story." The grand prize winner "will receive the 'ultimate fan experience' package, which includes two seats in the team's press box, a ride on the arena's Zamboni and the chance to attend a post-game press conference." The Winter Classic DVD also will feature "highlights of the game ... the pre-game tailgating scene and behind-the-scenes footage of the planning that went into the event." Sabres Dir of PR Michael Gilbert: "We knew going in that this was going to be a very special day -- and it was. Now we want to create a real collector's piece to go along with the day." All memories and stories can be entered via the Sabres' Web site, and Gilbert said that more than 100 entries had been submitted as of June 3 (BUSINESS FIRST OF BUFFALO, 6/6 issue).
